Research has identified the lack of support as one of the major barriers to successful technology integration in the classroom. This lack of support includes both technical support and instructional technology support. To address this need C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi developed several components in their School Mentor Model. The first component was the creation of the position of the Technology Facilitator. The Technology Facilitator (TF) is a fulltime person who is housed onsite at the school level to provide ongoing "just-in-time" technical and instructional support on a daily basis to teachers as they integrate technology into their curriculum. In addition to the TF, C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi developed Student Tech Teams trained by the TF to extend the efforts of the TF by providing technical and instructional support in their classes to teachers and students. The Student Tech Team multiplies the efforts of the TF by reaching more students and teachers on a daily basis. The third component of the School Mentor Model designed to provide "just in time" support is the C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi Web site of classroom resources including professional development documents, technology-infused lesson plans, and "how to" documents. All of these components work together to supply teachers with the daily in-depth support necessary to enable them to be successful in their efforts to integrate technology.
