The C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi Web site established a virtual community that provided participants with the opportunity to share ideas, resources, and best practices in technology, and to offer support to others as they embarked on their technology journey.
One of the greatest resources for teachers is the over 200 technology-infused lessons designed by Core Teachers themselves. Emphasis was placed on aligning each lesson plan with state and national standards. C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi lessons represent the four curriculum areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies and have been posted to the C·R·E·A·T·E Web site.
Research has identified the lack of support as one of the major barriers to successful technology integration in the classroom. This lack of support includes both technical support and instructional technology support. To address this need C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi developed several components in their School Mentor Model. The first component was the creation of the position of the Technology Facilitator. The Technology Facilitator (TF) was a fulltime person who was housed onsite at the school level to provide ongoing "just-in-time" technical and instructional support on a daily basis to teachers as they integrated technology into their curriculum. In addition to the TF, C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi developed Student Tech Teams trained by the TF to extend the efforts of the TF by providing technical and instructional support in their classes to teachers and students. The Student Tech Team multiplied the efforts of the TF by reaching more students and teachers on a daily basis. The third component of the School Mentor Model designed to provide "just in time" support was the C·R·E·A·T·E for Mississippi Web site of classroom resources including professional development documents and technology-infused lesson plans. All of these components worked together to supply teachers with the daily in-depth support necessary to enable them to be successful in their efforts to integrate technology.
