Community Information

Charleston Middle School is located in Charleston Mississippi, which is also part of Tallahatchie County. Tallahatchie County is a small rural agricultural community of approximately 12,000 residents.

Tallahatchie (an Indian name meaning Rock River) County was founded in December 1831. It is one of ten counties in Mississippi with two county seats, Charleston and Sumner, Mississippi. Founded in 1837, by Colonel Thomas Bailey, Charleston was included in a small settlement of five communities along the forks of the Tillatobia Creek.

The Charleston Middle School is part of the East Tallahatchie County School District. The Middle School currently serves approximately 700 students in grades 4-8.

STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE is the district's motto. The mission of the school district is to provide quality education for all our students. Continuing to move forward, with the help of technology, all of our children will have access to some of the best and up-to-date equipment available. Students are our first priority. Our job is all about children and their education. Everybody moving forward, no one will be left behind.
